iKnow that there is a God, and He has not left me here to figure it out all on my own. He has left me with His word which contains His plans and purposes for not only our world, but my life, He knows me by name. In fact, I won’t take someone's word for it. I will grab a Bible and see what God has to say.
I know that I am not perfect, I read that He is perfect and so is His standard. My failure to be perfect and to meet the standards written in His word is defined as the sin in my life.
Romans 3:23 confirms, “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” and later in Romans 6:23 it shows me that “the wages of sin is death..BUT the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”. That’s a big BUT, and I want to know more about this.
At first I was unsure of what that really meant, and what if anything I have to do. How do I accept this “gift” of eternal life through Jesus. I read from Romans 5:8 that, “God showed His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. It wasn’t conditional on me doing the right things or not sinning, but as a sinner Christ died for me. What did He die for? 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 tells us, “how that Christ died for our sins..was buried..and rose again”. Later in II Corinthians 5:21 it goes further to tell me that God made Jesus, “to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”.
I find out from Romans 1:16 that I should not be ashamed of this good news about what Christ did for me, in fact, “it is the power of God unto Salvation to everyone that believes”. So. how do I be made the “righteousness of God”? Thankfully Romans 4:5 says, “to him that works not, but believes on Jesus that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness”.
If you know that you are a sinner and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), and believe this good news about what Christ did for you, that he died for your sins, was buried, and rose again (I Corinthians 15:3-4) then you can know you are saved from the penalty of sin and death by Christ’s death, burial, and, resurrection and have accepted the gift of eternal life in Christ! Why not pray and thank God for your Salvation!
